Natural Language Processing (NLP)

Natural Language Processing (NLP) is the branch of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that focuses on a machine’s ability to understand human language. It’s at the core of tools we use every day – search engines, chatbots, translation apps, and so on.
Cisco is interested in several critical areas of research in Natural Language Processing, including but not limited to the following:
- Question Answering
- Semantic Search
- Summarization
- Conversational AI
- Multimodal Information Retrieval
- Document Classification
- Word/Sentence/Document representation
- Sentiment Analysis
- Knowledge Graph applications in NLU
Proposal Submission:
After a preliminary review, we may ask you to revise and resubmit your proposal. RFPs maybe be withdrawn as research proposals are funded, or interest in the specific topic is satisfied. Researchers should plan to submit their proposals as soon as possible.

Constraints and other information
IPR will stay with the university. Cisco expects customary scholarly dissemination of results and hopes that promising results would be made available to the community without limiting licenses, royalties, or other encumbrances.
