Quantum Data Center
Cisco's vision on quantum computing
Quantum computing is experiencing a significant surge in development, progressing rapidly from quantum processors with tens of qubits to those with hundreds. While this represents a substantial milestone, creating a truly useful and practical quantum computer requires scaling to tens of millions of qubits. This journey presents major challenges, including expanding the number of qubits within monolithic architectures and providing quantum computing as a service. At Cisco’s Quantum Research group, we believe that Quantum Data Centers (QDCs) offer a viable path for developing scalable and functional quantum computing services for a variety of users and applications.
In our vision, a dynamic quantum entanglement network is the key building block for realizing the QDC concept. This network can establish entanglement between any two processors within the data center. We are dedicated to developing the core elements of this dynamically switchable quantum entanglement network, particularly the Cisco Quantum Entanglement Switch.
