Are you a distinguished academic involved in Quantum Safe Networking? Cisco's Research is actively engaged in designing and constructing a quantum-safe network. We are combining and converging Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and quantum assisted secure classical communication to create a cornerstone security technology for the Quantum Safe Internet. Our dedicated team of scientists and engineers is committed to advancing the forefront of quantum-safe networking. In alignment with our vision, we are actively seeking proposals to explore various aspects of quantum-safe networking, including hardware, software, applications, and use cases. Key areas of interest include:

  • Entanglement-based QKD networks for scalable quantum security.
  • Quantum-safe end-to-end network architectures (wireless, optical, packet, and data center) and use cases based on hybrid QKD and PQC.
  • Key management systems for hybrid QKD and PQC networks.
  • Practical authentication systems for QKD.
  • Multi-dimensional quantum beacon assisted classical secure communications.
  • Applications and use cases of Quantum Random Number Generators (QRNG)
  • for quantum-safe networking as well as non-security applications.

Proposal Submission:

After a preliminary review, we may ask you to revise and resubmit your proposal. RFPs maybe be withdrawn as research proposals are funded, or interest in the specific topic is satisfied. Researchers should plan to submit their proposals as soon as possible.

Constraints and other information

IPR will stay with the university. Cisco expects customary scholarly dissemination of results and hopes that promising results would be made available to the community without limiting licenses, royalties, or other encumbrances.
